Greetings SP yale folks. David Stern and Andy Shimp desired a subscription
to SilverLinker, the product from SilverPlatter that enables us to create
links from the citations to many of the ejournals we subscribe to. I'm
sure David will be raising questions at some future date about funding
contributions, since the product is a benefit to more than just the
sciences, but he can do that himself.
I've been given the SilverLinker administrative information, and did a
quick set up for some of our packages:
Science (AAAS)
IDEAL
AIP
Springer
ScienceDirect
Project Muse
SIAM
I'm not really tooting the horn loudly about this for a couple of reasons.
I may actually have to disable the links to the above packages in order to
get the "pick and choose" interfaces into the system. (For example, we
don't subscribe to all Catchword titles, so I will have to go through all
Catchword titles one by one to activate them.) Also, ScienceDirect isn't
really an "all" package -- just the Elsevier ones, so there may be some
dead-end links in there.
However, the way my schedule looks, it may be another few months before I'm
able to do much more tweaking with SilverLinker, so I wanted to let this
group know about it and why in the java mode of SilverPlatter there are now
links to fulltext for some citations. If you have questions, please ask!
