[Cross posted on OvidYUL-L and SPYUL-L]
You are invited to attend a meeting on Monday, March 29 from 11 am - 1 pm
at the Medical Library with Ovid/SilverPlatter personnel. It is a follow
up to a February meeting with our account representative, Jim Palmerin.
During the Feb meeting a number of issues were raised, many are ongoing
with little or no progress from Ovid. Below is a listing of these issues.
Reply, off list, if you wish to attend and/or add any issues to be
addressed at this meeting.
Attending from Ovid:
Jim Palmerin, Yale Account Representative
John Mate, the Director of North American Sales
Patti Corbett, the Vice President, Marketing and Customer
Development.

Ovid Issues
Cushing/Whitney Medical Library
Rev: 3/5/04
- Concurrent User Limit Page. According to Ovid Technical
Support, this page can not be customized. We want to customize the page
so it point users to Yale SFX Links for alternative access points and
services, such as documents delivery. STATUS: Page can not be customized,
but request has been entered by Tech Support as a future enhancement.
 - User License Pricing/Model. For 2004, Yale University paid
$84,965.00 for 60 user seats. As Ovid moves toward merging SilverPlatter
and Ovid interfaces, consider pricing models that cover interface costs
without imposing user seat limits.  In the meantime, Yale would like
to discuss options for unlimited access based on our current user license
spending. STATUS: A proposal will be made on unlimited user access to
Ovid Online interface. For specific resources, such as Books@Ovid,
content costs and access based on concurrent users will be addressed
separately.
 - Access to E-Published Articles. Articles published online
before appearing in the print issue are not available via Journals@Ovid.
 - EBM Links within Ovid MEDLINE and CINAHL. Abstracts from the
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews are indexed in MEDLINE but do not
have full text links (or topic review links) from the citation to the
full text in the Cochrane database.  Links to the full review do
exist from the articles citied by the review. Also the quick limit for
EBM Reviews does not retrieve the Cochrane citation only the articles it
cites. CINAHL has no links to Cochrane or other EBM Review databases.
 - Books@Ovid Statistics. Statistics are now available, but not
very useful since you can only search one month and account at a time.
Ovid Technical Support unable to supply raw data for our own Ovid Stats
Generator program.
 - Books@Ovid Indexes. Indexes from the print edition should be
added to online version with links to the appropriate locations in the
text.
 - CINAHL Pricing. Pricing options for 8 to 12 users from current
level of 20 users. STATUS: For 2005, revised pricing for 10 users of
$4,640 (with possible 10% discount)
 - Revised MEDLINE citations: When NLM revises a citation, Ovid
does not discard the out-dated record-so duplicate content records are
created in Ovid MEDLINE.
 - What's New or Forthcoming from Ovid. For example, the revision
of the interface, new linking system, new content?
